Volunteerism is a significant part of the Summer Youth Initiative (SYI) experience in addition to the training and work experiences you will have through this program. Not only does it connect you with community members who need assistance, but it shows how the effort to lend a hand, gives back to the volunteer on numerous levels.

All students employed through the SYI program will participate in one day of unpaid volunteer service. Once you have been hired through this program, you will select from a list of volunteer service projects that you want to volunteer your time. This is coordinated through the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce.

If you have not volunteered in the past, this can be one of the most rewarding experiences!
