A ribbon cutting inside the 501 Bar & Grill officially opens downtown Flint's newest restaurant on Wednesday, August 12, 2009. FLINT, MI – The grand opening of 501 Bar & Grill and Wize Guys Pizza was held Wednesday, August 12 at the dual-concept restaurants located at 500 S. Saginaw Street. Flint’s newest dining establishments feature a full-service bar, informal and upscale dining with a pleasing menu that will satisfy any palate. A private investment group developed the restaurants at the corner of First and Saginaw Street in the Community Foundation Building. Read the article from The Flint Journal.

“We are very excited to bring a vibrant atmosphere to downtown to compliment the growth and revitalization of this community,” said Phil Shaltz, managing partner of 501 Bar & Grill and Wize Guys Pizza. “We are thrilled to join other entrepreneurs in the development of Flint’s burgeoning restaurant district.”

The 501 Bar & Grill features seating for 90, a full service racetrack-style bar and a variety of tapas – a Spanish term for small plates appetizers. Executive Chef Luis Fernandes has created a delectable menu of tapas selections, seasonal greens, Spanish empanadas, specialty dips, spreads and breads, pasta, sliders and wraps. A private meeting room for 20 will be available by reservation only. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday from Noon to Midnight; and Sunday from Noon to 9 p.m.

Wize Guys Pizza seats 70 patrons and features a chopped salad bar, soups, pizza by the pie or slice and oven baked grinders. Beer and wine is available at Wize Guys Pizza which also features takeout and delivery to downtown area businesses. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 11 p.m.
