CAREER ALLIANCE, INC. AND REGIONAL CHAMBER—BRINGING TRAINING TO GENESEE AND SHIAWASSEE BUSINESSES
(FEBRUARY 24, 2009, FLINT, MI) Career Alliance, Inc. and the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce have partnered to bring to the area Employment Builders Alliance (EBA), a cost efficient, cooperative workforce training program available to all Genesee and Shiawassee County businesses. The joint venture was announced during a 10:00 a.m. press conference Tuesday, February 24, at the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce. Read the article from The Flint Journal.
EBA is a program that allows employees to take an unlimited number of training courses throughout the year at no charge when their employer pays a $10.00 per year per employee fee. “Aside from the obvious training benefits, this program is an opportunity for businesses to educate employees at a fraction of the cost of other seminars and programs,” noted Tim Herman, Regional Chamber CEO. “It is a win-win situation for companies both large and small. The partnership between Career Alliance and the Regional Chamber is a true representation of Partners for Progress, and this EBA initiative is a value added opportunity for all businesses and the community.”
Barrette Outdoor Living, Fernco, Inc., Interactive Training Systems, FDIS Empire and the Regional Chamber are just a few of the members participating within Genesee County. Classes range from motivation and team building, to Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, to name a few. Genesee County class locations include Mott Community College and Baker College of Flint. There are over 150 members in the entire EBA program, which originated with ThumbWorks!, a Michigan Works! Agency in the Thumb Area. Eight counties are currently involved in the program, including Genesee and Shiawassee.
“The goal is to increase competitiveness of area employers, provide skill training, boost productivity and upgrade worker skills,” added Alicia Booker, President of Career Alliance, Inc. “The EBA program allows for workforce training options that were once potentially cost prohibitive to the business owners that are now extremely cost effective.”
