Flint, MI - November 12, 2008 - The Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce announced the launching of the Small Business Council (SBC) during a 10:00 a.m. press conference this morning at the Regional Chamber. The SBC is a membership group of 30 companies that represents a broad range of businesses. This group not only aims to create a forum for information and networking, but it provides the Regional Chamber an opportunity to put information before small business members, as well as spotlight members’ concerns. Ultimately, the SBC will be a place to bring actionable ideas to life.
“The Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce is intent on bringing together businesses that will work together for the change and betterment of the community,” said Tim Herman, Regional Chamber CEO. “This Small Business Council will help do that. Not only does it underscore the Partners for Progress program at the Regional Chamber, but it emphasizes Genesee County’s continued movement toward economic growth and restoration.”
Following the press gathering a brief orientation and business meeting was held for inaugural members. The meeting including the reveal of the Mission Statement, proposed format and work plan for 2009, previously developed by a core group of SBC members. Moving forward the group will meet six times a year and present different content during the meetings. The meetings will be open to all business members in the county. The SBC will rotate its council members on a yearly basis. There is no cost to join.
